A brass head engraved with your design, on a rosewood handle as standard. You can also choose an antique metal handle, or one in blush pink, sage green, dusty blue or ivory. The head screws off the handle.
Which size should I choose?
30 mm suits most letters and invitations. 35 mm gives detailed pictures, logos and longer words round the edge more room.
Can I use my own logo?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG or SVG and the designer turns it into a one-colour seal. We check every logo before it’s made and email you if anything needs changing. Please only upload designs you have the right to use.
Can you draw a seal from my idea?
Yes. Type your idea, for example a fox asleep, and the designer draws a picture for your seal in about 30 seconds. Draw a few versions, pick your favourite and add words round the edge. We check every drawing before it’s made.
Will I see my seal before it’s made?
Yes. The designer presses your seal live in the wax colour you pick, and you can switch to the stamp face to see the brass head itself.
Will my words fit?
Letters must be at least 2 mm tall to show in wax, so each line has a limit. Each word box shows Fits or Too long as you type. If yours are too long, try 35 mm, one line instead of two, or shorter words.
How do I use a wax seal stamp?
Melt a few wax beads in the spoon over a tea light and pour a coin-sized pool onto the envelope. Wait about 10 seconds, press the stamp down, hold it still for 10 more, then lift it straight up. Cool the stamp between seals for crisp edges. Too much wax gives a soft, blurry seal. With a wax stick: light the tip, drip a coin-sized pool, wait 10 seconds and press. With the glue gun: let it heat for 3 to 5 minutes, then squeeze a coin-sized pool onto the mat or envelope.
Does it come ready to give as a gift?
Yes. The Essentials Set comes in a gift box, with a wax furnace and spoon, a jar of wax beads in your colour and 2 tea lights. Stamp only comes with your stamp and a sealing wax stick.
Can I post letters with a wax seal?
Yes, but postal sorting machines can crack a seal. For letters you post, put the sealed card inside a plain outer envelope. Glue gun wax is more flexible than traditional sealing wax, so it travels better.
Can I add more designs later?
The heads screw off the handle, so one handle can take more than one head. Add a second design at the last step of the designer.
How do I look after my brass stamp?
Let it cool, then wipe off any wax with a soft, dry cloth. Brass darkens a little over time. That’s normal and doesn’t change your seal.
Where do I get more wax?
Wax beads, sticks and tools in all 12 colours are on our wax refills page.
Can I return it?
Each seal is engraved to order with your design, so we can’t take it back if you change your mind. If anything is wrong with it, we’ll put it right. This doesn’t affect your legal rights. Returns policy
