  3. Approve the proof. We engrave a brass plate to match, by hand.
  4. Press once for a clean, raised impression. Use it for years.

A few things worth knowing

What is an ex libris stamp?
Ex libris is Latin for "from the books of." For centuries, readers have marked their personal libraries with a small seal — a quiet way of saying "this one is mine." A book embosser is the modern, ink-free version: a single press leaves a raised, permanent impression on the page. No fading, no smudging, no glue.
Will a book embosser damage my books?
No. The impression is gentle — it raises the paper rather than cutting it, so the page stays intact and the design lasts as long as the book does. We recommend embossing the title page or front endpaper, where it sits cleanly without affecting the text.
What's the best paper for embossing?
Anywhere from 80gsm up to about 300gsm — most book pages, journal covers, wedding stationery, and quality envelopes fall in this range. Slightly textured uncoated paper gives the cleanest impression. Very thin paperback stock or fully glossy coated card aren't ideal.
Can I describe a design of my own?

Yes. If you have something specific in mind, you can describe it and use that as the starting point for your seal. It might be initials in laurel, a favourite flower, a house, a creature from a much-loved story, or something simpler. You can then add names, dates, or wording around it.

How long does delivery take?

Each embosser is made to order, so it takes a little longer than something picked from a warehouse shelf. Your custom design is usually crafted within 3 business days, followed by 3–7 business days for delivery, depending on your location.

What happens if there’s a problem?

If there’s a fault with the embosser or the impression isn’t as it should be, we’ll put it right. For any order concern, reply to your confirmation email and a real person will help.
